Bodrogi Dávid
Hello!
I’m Dávid Bodrogi, please just call me Dávid!
I’ve been interested in photography since I was just a boy, it is my family’s and friends’ legacy. Even though I haven't reached 30 yet, I already have over two decades of experience. Photography, the magic of frozen moments, captivated me from the first second. I was excitedly looking at pictures even when I was 8-9 years old, and this childlike joy has been driving me ever since.Little Dávid loved movies, especially American action and adventure films, as well as cartoons. These two great loves of mine have defined my life ever since, hence after high school I went to England to study to become a film director. During high school, I became a member of the Hungarian Journalists' Association and photographed a variety of subjects, for example Hungarian division one football (which is still a hobby of mine), in youth camps and theatres, among other things, but I did not dare to undertake a wedding, even though several people were telling me for years to do so, weddings seemed like too much responsibility for me.
After I graduated in England, I photographed my first wedding in London, alongside another photographer, now I also photograph these love stories with several years of experience, enjoying all their beauty and every moment of them. It's fantastic that just my presence is enough to capture beautiful moments, I like to document events and not overly direct them. I tend to leave space for you to experience funny, touching and honest emotions with your partner, mom or grandpa. I usually have a playful semi-instructed photoshoot as part of the big day; these are short dates within a wedding. Through games based on theatre pedagogy, you'll forget that I'm there and only focus on each other’s laugh and joy, this helps you to quickly relax, enjoy and to be present in the moment. During these moments, many light hearted words and kind affirmations tend to fly out of my mouth, creating an open and safe environment is my main goal. I'm always looking for new things, the unique moments that make your wedding truly yours, this could be when you dance with your 90-year-old grandmother after midnight, when you put on your rainbow-colored wedding dress or when your fiancé sings a song written for you, for your wedding day. One of my favourite pictures is when one of my couple’s daughter cried during her parents wedding day, it's a very beautiful and touching moment. At the end of a wedding, it's fairly frequent that I say goodbye with a hug from the couple, family members or even a guest, when this happens, I know I did my job well and we had a connection I gave them more than a service and I got more than a job, we got a memory to cherish.
I hope that this is how we will celebrate your wedding and your love!
What I am proud of:
- I learned from one of Hungary's leading wedding photographers (Duba Dia) in a workshop lasting several weeks.
- Several of my photos have been published in international and national newspapers, such as Elle and Nemzeti Sport (National Sport).
- I graduated from the Film Department of the Norwich University of the Arts with Honors from the Vice Chancellor.
- I had photos in several exhibitions (both in England and Hungary), my solo exhibition "A journey to my heart" was welcomed by half a dozen galleries and cultural institutions. This exhibition was focused on my poems and landscapes from a spiritual solo trip to Iceland. I am planning the next independent exhibition, which will be centered around ballet.
-
My short film, "Tale of Life", was shown in two cinemas and festivals in Hungary, it was a semi-finalist at the Independent Film Festival in Prague and was shown at dozens of festivals from Warsaw to Los Angeles.
What I love:
-
Friends and good company inspire me and give me great joy, it's part of why I love weddings. I get to meet a lot of new people and have new ideas about the World.
- Music in any quantity, I love going to concerts, whether it's chill handpan or Sum41's ear-splitting music (I have to leave a short list of my biggest favourites here: 30Y, Queen, AC DC, Edvard Grieg, Beatles, Dragon Force, Esti Kornél, Elvis, Bon Jovi, Sinatra, Billie Eilish).
- It must be "unbelievable", but as a filmmaker, going to the cinema is also a big passion of mine (I simply must leave another short list of my favourites: Star Wars, Twelve Angry Men, The King's Speech, Interstellar, About Time, Indiana Jones, Back to the Future, Die Hard, Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, Sunset Limited).
- My two puppies, although, if I want to be a little honest, especially Barnika, who, even as a 30 kg Hungarian Vizsla, thinks that he is a lapdog.
- Everything that is art (poems, ceramics, graphics, etc.)!
-
Morning teas, especially during autumn. Fruit teas are gifts from God!
-
Being active (learning new things, languages) and traveling a lot. I would like to go to or go back to many more places, China and Brazil are examples of the former, while Iceland and Greece (I hope to photograph weddings in there one day.) are examples of the latter.
